Overview
What you will learn
International Relations originally founded on state interests and security concerns have witnessed a significant paradigm shift in the past several decades to include broader societal interests and concerns. Along with these developments, actors and operations have changed and norms of conduct have also been redefined. International Relations are no longer the exclusive preserve of the states with non-state actors beginning to play an increasingly influential role. Consequently, non-state cross boarder relations and actors are also considered legitimate part of mainstream International Relations today. These developments have direct impact on the study of International Relations to be interdisciplinary in approach and multidisciplinary in content.
The International Relations MA programme offered at University of Peradeniya is a taught course in which a candidate is required to earn 44 credits from core and optional courses for graduation. These courses impart theoretical and conceptual knowledge necessary to analyze practical and real world issues of international relations.
