Overview
Degree Programme
The Archaeological Materials Science program of the Sapienza University of Rome aims to train highly specialized professionals with the necessary knowledge, skills and competences in the emerging field of archeometry, i.e. set of physico-chemical and biological sciences applied to the study of archaeological materials. The ARCHMAT Master's Degree responds to the growing need to promote and strengthen European efforts in building a common platform for higher education through joint degrees and, at the same time, develop a project capable of exploiting and enhancing the immense related scientific potential to the archaeological heritage present in the Mediterranean area, and to the professional skills connected to it. University students from all over the world, coming from different educational backgrounds both scientific and humanistic, will be able to acquire new skills in a highly multidisciplinary and integrated program, and at the same time share their experience in a multicultural environment.
These skills are developed in the LM ARCHMAT through a training course with increasing level of complexity, focused on a compulsory mobility scheme for all students from the University of EVORA (Portugal) (1st semester 30 credits) to the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece ) (2nd semester 30 credits) at Sapienza University of Rome (3rd semester 30 credits). The fourth semester of the course of study (30 credits) is dedicated to experimental thesis work in one of the three consortium universities, in collaboration with other associated partners. Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) (2nd semester 30 credits) at Sapienza University of Rome (3rd semester 30 credits).
