History MA programme offered at Bharathiar University is to Protect, Propagate and Promote the Historical knowledge with academic prowess.

The department continues to create an environment of cutting-edge research in the discipline of history as well newly-emerging interdisciplinary fields. It looks forward to a future of intellectual exchange at home and abroad, and to promote a better understanding of human experience through the lens of history.

The Department has also been serving as a centre for the promotion of Historical knowledge by some extension activities through the “Bharathian History Students’ Club” which was started on 12.01.2017 on the occasion of the ‘National Youth Day’ celebration.

The BHSC’s mission is to make a deep imprint on the historical world of India by creating awareness among the general public about History through various activities like camps, lectures, workshops etc., by receiving the patronage and co-operation of scholars of national and international repute.
