Overview

The Department of Human Genetics and Molecular Biology is a Basic Science Research department in the School of Life Sciences in Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. This Department is devoted to advancing in the field of genetics and genomics to get a better insight into the human diseases.

Their mission is to impart the students and research scholars with a great knowledge about genetics by providing them a sophisticated laboratory and invited lectures from many research scientists from various institutions.

Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

After the successful completion of the Human Genetics and Molecular Biology MSc programme offered at Bharathiar University, students are expected to:

Know the inheritance patterns of human

To explain the role of genetic changes in association with diseases and disorders

Capacity to design a device to identify the genetic changes

Capable of differentiate genetic and non-genetic disorders

Capacity to manipulating the mutated diseased genes

Capable to become a genetic counselor

The confidence to fill their talent gaps in the emerging field in Human Genetics

Practice the learned molecular methods in clinical center, hospitals and laboratories

Registration fee of Rs.400/- for each application should be paid through Net Banking/Debit/Credit cards/ NEFT.

Registration for SC/ST candidates is Rs.200/- for each application ( Photo copy of the Community certificate be enclosed)
