To meet the growing demands in the field of Science and Technology in general and Computer Science in particular, the Department of Information Technology was started in the year 2008 under School of Computer Science and Engineering with the objective of imparting knowledge in cutting-edge technologies in Information Technology and Computer Science.

Program Educational Objectives(PEOs)

The PEOs of the Information Technology MSc programme offered at Bharathiar University describe accomplishments that graduates are expected to attain within five to seven years after graduation:

Be a Software Engineer or Developer either as an individual or as a team player in the Information Technology industry and allied branches providing viable solutions.

Initiate life-long learning to acquire new technologies and adapt to the changing needs of Information Technology Industry through self-study, graduate work and professional development.

Exhibit professional excellence, ethics, soft skills, leadership qualities as a responsible citizen with societal interest to match the standards of the Industry.

Graduate will be able to pursue higher studies in the field of Information Technology.

Provide simplest automated solution to various legacy systems.

Analize, Design and Create innovative products for real time applications.

Take up studies in the higher education institution in applied automated research.

Acquire the skills needed to become an entrepreneur in the Information Technology areas.

Able to get placed in Government / Public sectors to take care of Information Technology based solutions.

Provide knowledge and skills to participate and be successful in choosing careers in the CIVIL services.
