It focuses on the dynamism of the Earth’s surface, atmosphere and hydrosphere, and considers their influence on processes that sustain life at a wide range of spatial and temporal scales.
The Environmental Futures - Sustainable Systems programme of the University of Glasgow allows students to organise their studies towards key areas of interest including: climate, risk and land use change; developing in-depth and critical understanding of contemporary global issues in crustal and surface interactions; and biogeochemical interactions in organic and inorganic systems. Students will be trained in cutting-edge analytical equipment, computational methods and advanced field techniques. The programme is ideal for those keen to pursue a professional career or research in the study of geophysical and environmental challenges.
