About the program

During the Anthropology program of Rhodes University you are guided through the process by a supervisor, and co-supervisor where applicable, who has interest and relevant expertise in your chosen topic. Enquiries for potential supervisors can be directed to the individual staff members whose research areas are most suited to your interests or to the Post graduate Co-ordinator.

A research proposal is developed and presented to the departmental research committee, followed by submission to the Humanities Faculty Higher Degrees Committee for approval. Research proposals should preferably be finalised within 6 months of registration.

General requirements

To enrol in our masters program an Honours Degree in Anthropology, or cognate discipline, and a final course mark of at least 65% is required.

A full curriculum vitae and copies of academic transcripts

A 3-5 page motivation and outline of the research you wish to pursue.

A copy of your honour’s research thesis
