Overview

The programme offers you an opportunity to develop your engineering knowledge with an understanding of how organisations can create new business opportunities.

The Innovation and Service Development programme from Karlstad University includes two years of studies in the advanced level which is research driven and focuses on innovation management, service development and business development.

The aim of the programme is that the student develops the knowledge and skills to identify and create new business opportunities, transform organisations into the service economy, and manage creativity and innovation processes. Education is given in an active form where students often work in groups with a strong focus on both theoretical and practical relevance.

Career

The programme has been developed in collaboration with Swedish companies from industries, such as industrial production, IT development, and consumer goods. The skills that you develop are therefore aligned with the needs of the job market. Some courses are also linked to practice through guest lectures by practitioners, live case assignments and projects from companies.

After graduation you are able to work, for instance, in business development, product and service development or technical sales. The programme also prepares you to become an entrepreneur and build your own start-up. Alternatively, you will have the prerequisites to continue your studies towards a doctors degree in innovation and service development.
