Overview

Topics covered will include the fundamentals of their action and the molecular basis of disposition. Lectures will consider the pharmacologic mechanisms by which chemicals may interfere with physiologic functions to cause abnormal side effects. Therefore the course of “Toxicology” included into program.

In general, the Pharmaceutical Chemistry program from Novosibirsk State University consists of a detailed account of the pharmacology of drugs and xenobiotics that affect selected organ systems. These include the pharmacology of substances affecting the endocrine system, the respiratory system, the digestive system, the immune system and the central nervous system. Emphasis is given to the clinical application of pharmacology in therapeutics through specifically-designed workshops that focus on case-studies. GLP and GCP approaches will be considered.

Acquisition of new knowledge of biochemical processes in normal physiology and pathologies broadcast of this knowledge in new technologies for the further development of pharmacology will be investigated. For today the education in pharmacology is highly demanded over the world included Russia.

The announcing program is unique for Russia and will train specialists in the field of chemical pharmacology and toxicology, drug design, drug and xenobiotics metabolism and disposition. The leading scientists of NSU who are currently working in the field of chemistry, biology and pharmacology will participate in the announced program.

Career opportunities

The obtained theoretical knowledge and practical skills will allow graduates of the program to successfully realize their scientific career in the leading scientific research institutions of Russia and abroad (R&D – research and development). Besides graduates of the program will be able to find good positions in the pharmacological companies that are currently highly developing and really need for such specialists. In addition, the development of the production of modern drugs also requires highly qualified specialists in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry.
