Overview
The Built Environment (by Research) programme from University of Malaya is purely based on individual supervised research. Candidates will be exposed to Research Methodology Course to strengthen their research knowledge.
Key Features
At the end of the candidate's study, a dissertation must be submitted and upon successful defence of the dissertation, the candidate will be awarded a Masters’ degree. All research proposals must be approved and supervised by the Faculty. Candidates are required to complete their studies within 8 semesters.

- This Master's programme is purely based on individual supervised research. Candidates will be exposed to [Code: BMX7001] Research Methodology Course (3 Credits) to strengthen their research knowledge.
- At the end of the candidate's study, a dissertation must be submitted and upon successful defence of the dissertation, the candidate will be awarded a Masters’ degree. All research proposals must be approved and supervised by the Faculty.

General requirements
Possess a Bachelor's Degree with a CGPA of 3.00/4.00 OR
Possess a Bachelor's Degree with a CGPA of 2.50 - 2.99 and;
The applicant must fulfil at least one (1) of the following criteria:
- 1) Universiti Malaya graduate or;
- 2) Has at least one (1) year of work experience in related fields or;
- 3) Has produced publications in related fields or;
- 4) A scholarship recipient or;
- 5) A staff member of a government agency or;
- 6) Pass an interview conducted by the Faculty or;
- 7) Pass a special evaluation by the Faculty.
