Overview

On completion of the Statistics program at University of Iceland, the student shall have an extensive knowledge and understanding of statistics, which implies:

• The student knows applied statistical methods, which form the basis for modern statistics, and knows their theoretical foundations.

• The student is able to use computer software and programming to solve statistical problems.

• The student has sufficient knowledge of statistics for further studies in statistics.

• The student can apply statistics in a logical manner to solve theoretical and applied projects, using modeling approaches as appropriate.

• The student has expertise in the use of computers and computer programming to solve statistical projects.

• The student has expertise in statistical reasoning.

• The student can implement and further develop statistical methods for a given project.

• The student can explain the theoretical foundations of common statistical methods.

• The student can use information technology to disseminate statistical results.
