Learn to analyse and study the ongoing international renewable energy transition from a range of perspectives through this MSc Sustainability and Renewables from University of Dundee.


Explore the technological, economic, legal, and governmental policy aspects that are driving renewable energy in this MSc Sustainability and Renewables from University of Dundee. You will gain an integrated and critical understanding of renewable and clean energy technologies and issues.

You will examine the role of international and national law and policy in the area of sustainability. You'll study renewable energy forms and sources such as:

You'll also acquire skills for formulating, reviewing, analysing, and communicating insights in the area of energy governance.

You will learn about the low carbon transition, with particular reference to renewables. This will prepare you to lead in thinking and practice on vital aspects of the ongoing low carbon energy transition taking place at all levels of energy governance.

In 2015, all UN countries pledged support for the 17 Sustainable Development Goals to achieve a more prosperous future for all while protecting natural resources. This course aligns itself closely to these goals and you will have the opportunity to learn more about them during your studies.

Remote internships

As part of this course you have the opportunity to undertake a remote internship in conjunction with Pagoda Projects, with host companies in destinations including China, Mexico, Vietnam and the UK. These internships offer valuable work experience and are designed to increase your cultural understanding and employability skills.


As societies move to become more sustainable and develop low-carbon economies, this course will place you in the fast-growing area of energy, environment, society, and governance (EESG) sections of firms.

It will give you the necessary skills and knowledge to take up a wide range of careers in:
