At Integrated Life Sciences - Biology, Biomathematics and Biophysics from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) students will obtain advanced knowledge and methodological skills with a focus on two of the three different directions: Mathematical Modelling and Systems Biology––Bioimaging and Biophysics––Biological Structures and Processes.

the rapidly developing research in molecular biology, biophysics, systems biology or synthetic biology.

integration of techniques and methods from different disciplines at different length- and timescales,

the function of single biomolecules may be studied using X-ray diffraction and computer simulations,

novel high-resolution microscopy methods are used to follow individual molecules in cells, the wealth of data generated

modern genomics and metabolomics

General requirements

Applicants require a Bachelor’s degree in integrated life sciences, physics, mathematics or biology (with an above-average grade). The ILS Master’s degree program is primarily intended for students who have already attended interdisciplinary biophysics or biomathematics courses in their Bachelor’s degree program and have a strong interest in interdisciplinary biology topics.
Applicants must produce evidence of English language proficiency equivalent to Level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Native speakers or applicants with a German university entrance qualification who can produce evidence of six years of English tuition at a German secondary school (Gymnasium) are exempt from this rule.
