Overview
The Music Performance program at Luleå University of Technology comprises two years of full-time study and is taught in English, individual instruction is in English and Swedish.
During the second academic year an artistic thesis is presented in both musical and written form.
Specialisations
Musician
- Studies within the Master Programme in Music Performance with specialisation Musician give you opportunities to develop your artistic abilities and identity in various musical and artistic constellations. The specialisation Musician welcomes students who are instrumentalists/singers, as well as students combining this with other roles, such as composer or arranger. We welcome students in a wide range of genres.
Composition
- Studies in the Master Programme in Music Performance with a specialisation in Composition provide opportunities to develop your artistic profile as a composer by working on various projects together with professional ensembles, musicians, choirs, and orchestras.
- Studies in the Master Programme in Music Performance with specialisation Conducting provide opportunities to develop and deepen your artistic and technical skills as a conductor by working in various projects together with professional ensembles, musicians, choirs, and orchestras.
Career opportunities
The future labour market for graduates of the Master Programme in Music Performance comprises a diverse range of areas within the Swedish and international music and performing arts fields. After graduation, you are eligible to apply for a research program in musical performance.For those studying solo organ or conducting within the music specialization and have a previous bachelor in church music, the education aims to provide you with eligibility for employment within the Church of Sweden with a church musician degree at A level.Programme Structure
