About

The CFO plays a diverse set of key and challenging roles within all firms:

  • ensuring compliance with financial regulations, preparing financial statements and communicating value and risk information to investors and boards
  • providing financial leadership and aligning business and financial strategy to expand the business and make investments as well as overseeing the capital structure of the company
  • developing and implementing internal and management control systems designed to protect company assets and report business performance.

Teaching leverages on a large number of methods with different objectives: lectures, class discussion and press analysis to understand management models, algorithms and methodologies; case studies, videos, inviting speakers from the business community to visualize and scrutinize organizational complexity; finally, simulations to improve data analysis, interpretation and decision making.

Career Opportunities

The main career path of this Accounting, Financial Management and Control programme at Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi, though not the only one, is that of Chief Financial Officer in manufacturing, commercial and service firms as well as in financial institutions. More specifically, the main entrance areas are represented by the following: 

  • Activities as accountants, management accountants and controllers in various kinds of firms, with roles in the areas of financial statement preparation and analysis, investor relations, corporate finance, internal control, planning and the design of performance measurement and control systems
  • Activities related to accounting, corporate finance and control in management consulting firms, auditing companies and in other consulting organizations that support customers in designing accounting information systems and in managing extraordinary operations such as mergers and acquisition

Programme Structure

Courses serve two functions. One important objective is to consolidate and develop the basic knowledge needed for operating in the field of accounting, corporate finance, planning and management control and auditing at a high professional level. 

The other key purpose is to provide competencies essential for scanning and interpreting the social and economic environment. The 24 credits of elective courses have the aim of specialization and are selected by the student either freely or within one major.

    C1 Advanced is a Cambridge English Qualification. It reports on the Cambridge English Scale between 142 and 210. You will receive a separate score for each of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and for Use of English. These five scores are averaged to give you an overall result for the exam. Universities and colleges may ask you to achieve a specific score, either overall or for a particular skill.

Academic Requirements

    The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. The GRE® General Test contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.

International applicants

In all the selection rounds, International applicants are selected on the basis of a process that takes into consideration all elements of their profile, focusing on three components:

  • Results of the GMAT (or GRE) test
  • Grade point average of exams passed in the Undergraduate program
  • Evaluation of the applicant's Curriculum vitae / Resumée and Personal statement, possibility of personal assessment interview.
