Overview
The goal of the degree program M.Sc. Forest Sciences from the University of Freiburg is to train students to become forest experts who are capable of addressing the current challenges and questions of ecologically, economically, and socially sustainable forest management in theory and practice and in both national and international contexts.
Quick Facts:
- Forests are becoming ever more important worldwide. They play a vital role in conserving natural habitats and biodiversity, provide us with the valuable raw material wood, and also often have a high recreational value. In order to conserve the forest ecosystem and its wide range of functions, forest management needs to consider ecological, economic, and social aspects in equal measure.
- Another global challenge is the impact of climate change on the world’s forests. Forests need to be adapted to meet changing climactic conditions, and they also function as a carbon sink.
