Our part-time Postgraduate Diploma in Genomic Medicine aims to equip graduates with critical knowledge and understanding of genomic medicine. Graduates will be able to apply knowledge for direct clinical benefit and future study. Our distance learning genetics course also caters to the educational needs of primary and secondary care health professionals, and is the only university-validated course of its kind that is completely accessible online.
On completion of the Postgraduate Diploma in Genomic Medicine and Healthcare (Online) from Diploma MSc you will demonstrate:
- A systematic understanding of genetics and genomic factors in human diseases.
- A critical awareness of current issues affecting the management of inherited human diseases.
- An advanced knowledge of clinical genomics that will facilitate decision-making in unpredictable and/or complex situations.
- An ability to critically evaluate current research in applied and translational genetics and genomics.
- An ability to deliver management strategies for the investigation and treatment of patients with inherited human diseases.
- A basic understanding of the scope and effect of genomics on treatments including horizon scanning of potential new targeted treatments for the wider population.

Applicants will be assessed on an individual basis, but typically, applicants for the programme will:- Possess a good degree (i.e. a minimum of a 2.2) in a relevant subject awarded by a UK university or overseas equivalent.- Be a registered healthcare professional.- Provide evidence in the personal statement as to how they can apply learning to a practical setting and reflect on practice. Basic IT skills (e.g., word-processing, email and internet).- If English is not the student’s first language they must hold an English language qualification (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent).
