Overview

Through the Community Music course from the University of Limerick you'll develop the skills to facilitate inclusive, participatory music‑making in diverse settings.

Through hands‑on workshops, you’ll build facilitation, ensemble and leadership skills while engaging with the latest community‑music research and reflective practice.

You will learn how to plan, fund, deliver and evaluate real‑world projects, culminating in a Final Presentation in the summer semester.

By the end of the programme, you’ll be ready to lead community music initiatives across education, health, youth and cultural sectors.

During this programme, you will:

Develop workshop skills, practical management and all other skills necessary for a community musician.

Facilitate the expressive work of others and work effectively with a wide range of people in diverse settings.

Add to the academic canon of community music writing.

Promote access to excellent participatory music making.

Primary degree in a suitable discipline with first or second class honours or an approved equivalent qualification (Primary degree: Level 8 - National Qualifications Authority of Ireland). Or an equivalent capability based on prior professional experience.
A performance audition and interview will be required in all cases. Additional audio, visual or written material may be required.
Garda clearance is also required for this programme.
