Overview

Cyber Security is a cornerstone for the continued expansion and acceptance of the information society while, at the same time, being a fundamental research discipline within computer science. Given the news coverage of cyber security issues in recent years, the importance of the topic is self-explaining. Beyond enhancing existing systems, security technologies further enable new applications and have transformative effects on the society by redefining and challenging trust relationships and assumptions.

Research in cyber security strives to find solutions to pressing security problems in computer systems, networks and their applications.

It aims to provide both foundational and applied knowledge in this quickly expanding domain by leveraging expertise from the faculty in both institutions.

To complement the programme, students choose a focus area in computer science as a minor, such as computer systems, information systems, machine learning, software engineering, theoretical computer science, or visual computing.

For admission to the degree programme one of the following is required:

  • a university Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science comprising at least 180 ECTS credits(1 or an equivalent university degree in Computer Science
  • a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from a Swiss university of applied sciences(2 comprising at least 180 credits
  • a university Bachelor’s degree in a discipline other than Computer Science comprising at least 180 ECTS credits or an equivalent university degree which – provided that any pertaining additional requirements can be completed within the set framework

– Electrical Engineering (and Information Technology) 

– Mathematics 

– Mechanical Engineering
