Overview
Furthermore we will teach a variety of methods for achieving wellness related to movement, nutrition and related activities as well as their philosophical backgrounds. The understanding of wellbeing and the methods for achieving this differs with cultural background. Beside the western oriented approaches the Traditional Chinese and Indian ways for achieving wellbeing will be of central focus within this Sports Science - Movement and Wellbeing master jointly offered by Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. More specifically, some time for the studies of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda will be spent in China and India at our partner universities.
Programme aims
Another major aim of this Sports Science - Movement and Wellbeing master is the study of contemporary scientific methods based on western understanding of science in theory and practice for adequate measurement and diagnosis based on psychophysiological variables. Measuring brain states on the basis of the electro-magnetic and haemodynamic activity of the brain, effects on different heart beat dependent variables, changes of skin resistance, variations in the infrared spectrum or the changes in gas discharge

General requirements
The grades of applicants for selection purposes will be calculated using
- The average grades for academic performance and examinations weighted by credit points in the previous degree course (at least 135 CP);minus (if present)
- A bonus of 0.3 for members of the A-squad ("Olympiakader") or B-squad ("Perspektivkader") or "Ergänzungskader" (A and B) in a particular sport during the last two years prior to the application (Proof needed)and
- A bonus of 0.3 for relevant professional trainingand
- A bonus of 0.2 for at least two years of relevant professional experience
Besides the above described required Bachelor‘s degree applicants must proof English language skills at least at level B2. A further prerequisite for admission is that the examination entitlement for the chosen programme has not yet been lost. A corresponding declaration must be submitted for this purpose.
