Anthropology

Overview

At Anthropology from the University of the Western Cape, you'll investigate the cultures and structures of different societies throughout the world and throughout history analyzing their various patterns such as cultural patterns, kinship, marriage, economy, social class, gender and race.

They observe the everyday experiences of people in groups and collectivities - ethnic, professionals, workers, gangs, families and seek to explain them. They also raise critical philosophical issues about how a society can be studied. A course in Anthropolgy at  University of the Western Cape thus equips one to think systematically, critically and in a disciplined and informed fashion. The Department of Anthropology and Sociology at UWC has this as its chief aim and both the under-graduate and post-graduate courses have been designed accordingly.
