Overview

Stress, Ageing and Chronic Disease degree offered at University of Brighton examines the role played by stress, inflammation and the natural ageing process in the initiation and progression of diseases such as; cancer, diabetes, neurodegenerative and musculoskeletal disorders.

Learning alongside postdoctoral and other postgraduate researchers with shared interests you will discover how to design and undertake a substantial research project. The project allows you to demonstrate your creativity and initiative and to understand the relevance of scientific research to industry.

You will develop your lab-based skills using our specialist multidisciplinary research facilities, preparing you for employment in industry or further academic study.

Careers

The research stakeholders include clinical, industrial, charitable and academic collaborators and encompass local, national and international links.

We have ongoing partnerships with Brighton and Sussex Medical School and strong links with local NHS trusts, as well as other NHS trusts, and overseas health care providers such as St Jude Children's Research Hospital, USA.

A 2:1 degree in a relevant subject. Students with a degree that does not fall within this category but who have significant relevant experience, will also be considered. All applicants should provide a full description of any research projects undertaken, relevant work experience and non-academic qualifications.
