Overview

The Master's degree programme in Mathematics differs from the international Master's degree programme in Scientific Computing in that the Master's programme in Mathematics focuses predominantly on inner-mathematical research while the international Master's programme in Scientific Computing is oriented more strongly towards application.

Key Features

The objective of the Mathematics programme at the Heidelberg University is to expand and improve the basic knowledge of mathematics with the aim of enabling students to gain insights into current research in Heidelberg.

Graduates of the Master’s programme are able to apply and independently develop mathematical methods and models. Writing the Master's thesis strengthens students’ ability to autonomously conduct scientific work, analyse and solve problems, and organise their own work.

Certificate of enrolment from the most-recently attended university.

Proof of previous achievements in the Master's degree programme

Students applying for a transfer or change of institution from a non-German university must also submit: a certificate of transferable grades from the relevant subject area

Statement of sufficient financing for completion of the course of study. This does not apply for applications from EU/EEA member states and applicants with a German university entrance qualification.

Uncertified copy of the applicant’s passport (page with name in Latin script). Applicants from EU/EEA member states may alternatively submit a copy of their personal identity card.

For applicants with certificates from Vietnam, the People's Republic of China and India: Original of the APS certificate from the relevant Academic Examination Body.
