Overview
The English Studies programme offers a dynamic and interdisciplinary education that allows students to specialise in one of three distinct yet interconnected fields: Linguistics, Media Discourse, and Literature, Linguistics, and Culture. Each of these tracks provides a rich foundation in theoretical and empirical studies, while also focusing on practical skills for modern applications.
- Linguistics
Focuses on the scientific study of language, combining theory with empirical research and practical language analysis skills.
- Media Discourse
Examines language and communication in media contexts, emphasising critical analysis and real-world applications.
- Literature, Linguistics, and Culture
Explores literary texts alongside language and cultural studies, highlighting the connections between language, culture, and society.
Career
Graduates are prepared for academic careers in linguistics, literary and cultural studies, as well as for teaching at higher education institutions. The programme also opens pathways in publishing, translation, editing, lexicography, proofreading, media and cultural institutions, literary archives and museums, and other public or private organisations where advanced language expertise is required.
