Graduate Seminars are held each semester to give the opportunity for students to present their research proposals as well as progress reports to the academicians of CASIS. Even though the Islamic Civilisation program at University Teknologi Malaysia is research based, students are required to complete a set of courses that would help them develop the required theoretical framework true to the vision of the centre.

Courses include the mastery of Arabic language, Fundamentals in `Aqidah and Shari`ah of Islam, Worldview and Epistemic Frameworks, Dewesternisation and Islamisation of Contemporary Knowledge, Islamic Philosophy of Science and Methodology of Science, and other relevant courses.

Programme Structure

The Masters and Doctoral program offered by CASIS are a Research only by definition but to ensure our students to follow and understand the philosophy of education promoted by CASIS, we provide pre-requisite coursework throughout the study here.

Students are required to take some courses with the HW(check LIST OF COURSES) status with the intention to complete and strengthen some basic fundamental understandings in order to ensure success in their research.

A bachelor’s degree with good honours in a relevant field from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the UTM Senate;

Other qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree and experience in a related field recognised by the UTM Senate.
