The elective courses are divided into two specializations (Survey & Mapping, and Utility Mapping). In addition to these subjects, students are required to submit a Master Project worth of 8 credits.
To graduate, students of the Geomatic Engineering course from University Teknologi Malaysia must complete a total of 45 credits and they are assessed through assignments, presentations and final examination.

- A bachelor’s degree with good honours in a relevant field from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the UTM Senate; or
- Other qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree and experience in a related field recognised by the UTM Senate.
