Study programme focus

In recent years, wind energy has become an important source of electricity production, and since wind energy contributes to reducing CO2 emissions, this is regarded as a very positive trend. Wind energy is expected to cover 12 per cent of the global power consumption in 2020, with the number of employees in the wind industry reaching two million. In Denmark, wind energy already constitutes more than 30 per cent of the total energy production, but is expected to increase over the next years.


You can choose to specialize in electrical or mechanical engineering within one of the five study lines:

Career opportunities

The MSc Wind Energy programme at Technical University of Denmark (DTU) qualifies you for employment in a rapidly expanding international industry. General requirements

  • All applicants must have qualifications equivalent to the DTU course:
  • Advanced Engineering Mathematics     5    point 
  •  Advanced Engineering Mathematics 5    point 
  • Only applicants holding either a relevant Bachelor of Science in Engineering, a Bachelor in Engineering (diplomingeniøruddannelse) or a Bachelor of Natural Science degree can be admitted to a Master of Science in Engineering programme. The bachelor degree must be less than 10 years old.
  • The individual MSc Eng programme states in detail which bachelor programmes qualify and whether applicants have to complete supplementary educational activities.
  • Requirements for supplementary educational activities can equate to up to 30 ECTS credits and are specified in the form of a list of courses under the individual MSc Eng programmes.
