Study programme focus

The MSc programme in Architectural Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is linking your engineering skills to the design process through numerous cross-disciplinary project courses at high level in order to make you a specialist within the field of building design. 

The programme offers as a supplement to the generic project courses a wide range of spezialisation courses in areas such as building technology energy, load-bearing structures, installations, indoor climate, fire safety, acoustics, lighting, project management, and building information modelling.

Specializations

The wide selection of technological specialsation courses at the programme gives the individual student the opportunity to make a very distinct and personal profile. Your fields of interests in engineering can most likely be combined with the design courses, in which you embed your engineering knowledge in your designs. 

While it is very straightforward to make a study plan with a professional focus on Structural Design, Architectural Design or Energy Design, it is also possible to make study plans with other significant relevant profiles within Indoor Climate Design, Environmental Design or Design Management – by choosing your technological spezialisation from courses given by other (DTU)-departments than DTU Civil Engineering.

MSc Eng graduates in Architectural Engineering have plenty of opportunity to find employment with private and public companies, architects, consulting engineers, client consultants, building component and element manufacturers, contractors, public authorities, and research institutions. TOEFL admission requirements TOEFL® IBT The TOEFL iBT® is given online through the internet at designated testing site. The test measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. Other requirements

General requirements

To be admitted to a Master's degree program at DTU you must be either:

  • bachelor's degree in technical science or
  • diploma engineer or
  • bachelor in science.

The bachelor degree must be less than 10 years old.

The individual MSc Eng programme states in detail which bachelor programmes qualify and whether applicants have to complete supplementary educational activities.

Requirements for supplementary educational activities can equate to up to 30 ECTS credits and are specified in the form of a list of courses under the individual MSc Eng programmes.
