Overview
Starting with the academic year 2014/15, this Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering programme at Karl-Franzens University of Graz will be taught exclusively in English. The range of courses is broad, interdisciplinary and cross-academic. This master’s programme focuses on chemistry, pharmacology and process engineering. It provides sound theoretical and practical professional preparation including a great deal of laboratory practice, which requires technological understanding.
Depending on which bachelor’s programme was completed, this programme establishes core knowledge in the area of chemistry or process engineering. Important subject areas within this programme are pharmaceutical technology and pharmaceutical engineering (active substances and processes, extraction and production of synthetic and biological drug substances) as well as chemical engineering (chemical reaction engineering, particle process engineering, thermal separation processes, etc.).
Expected results
- Graduates of the master’s programme Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering will be able to elaborate concepts for chemical or pharmaceutical processes and production processes including process engineering methods.
- They will be able to identify issues and problems in production, production monitoring and quality control and assurance in pharmaceutical, food and biotechnologies as well as develop theoretical and practical solutions.
