Overview
The two-year Pharmacy program at ETH Zurich - Swiss Federal Institute of Technology build on the three-year bachelor's studies in pharmaceutical sciences. They convey in depth knowledge in various fields of pharmaceutical sciences as well as patient- and practice-oriented skills.
Course Overview
The first year of study consists of compulsory subjects and elective courses, independent research in the frame of the Drug Seminar and the Master's thesis. In the second year, students work as interns in community pharmacies (the so-called "Assistenzzeit") and attend practice-oriented block courses at the university:
- Pharmaceutical subject areas such as pharmacology and toxicology, pharmacoepidemiology, and therapeutic proteins
- Literature research and presentations on a drug-related topic in the frame of the Drug seminar
- Scientific research in the frame of the Master thesis (23 weeks)
- Practice- and patient-oriented subjects and case studies, practical trainings in drug compounding, clinical trainings, training in a hospital pharmacy, basic education and training in vaccination techniques
- Residency in a pharmacy/hospital pharmacy (29 weeks).

General requirements
For the admission to the degree programme one of the following is required:
- a university Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences comprising at least 180 ECTS credits or an equivalent university degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences
- a university Bachelor’s degree in a discipline other than Pharmaceutical Sciences comprising at least 180 ETCS credits or an equivalent university degree which – provided that any pertaining additional requirements can be completed within the set framework – satisfies the academic prerequisites.
- A Bachelor's degree qualifies its holder for admission to an ETH Master's degree programme only if it also qualifies said holder to enter, without additional requirements, the desired Master's degree programme within the university system where the Bachelor's degree was acquired.
