Additionally the course provides an introduction to finite element modelling, experimental work and research methods.

A particular highlight of the taught component of the Structural Engineering course offered at The University of Manchester is studying the behaviour and design of structures against extreme loading including fire and earthquake, which is taught by internationally leading researchers and engineers.

As a large multi-disciplinary engineering department, MACE has academic staff who are experts in a broad range of research areas and have a wide spread of professional experience in industry.

The programme is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) as an Approved Further Learning Scheme meaning that that the qualification can be used to support an application to become a professional Charted Engineer.
