Family Medicine MARA Technological University

Overview

The first intake was in June 2011 with three students. Since then, the programme has expanded to provide high-quality primary care training and services which has been accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). 

Key Features

The general objective of this Family Medicine programme offered at MARA Technological University is to provide in-depth training to doctors who will become Family Medicine Specialists to meet the demand of our fast-developing nation. 

The training includes acute and chronic care, maternal and child health as well as specialist community health care needs such as geriatric, adolescent and community mental health clinics. 

Upon successfully completing the programme, the graduates will be able to:  

• Apply acquired knowledge and understanding on the assessment of clinical cases in primary care. 

• Derive a management and follow up plan of clinical cases based on sound clinical judgement and evidence-based medicine. 

• Display clinical competency in assessing and managing clinical cases and be able to adapt lifelong self-directed learning. 

• Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and teamwork spirit between healthcare providers, patients, and family members. 

• Demonstrate effective patient-centered communication skills.

• Demonstrate good digital skills applications. 

• Exhibit good leadership skills and responsibility. 

• Integrate effective personal skills. 

• Demonstrate entrepreneurial skills. 

• Use quantitative and qualitative data.
