Overview
Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Doshisha University first teaches basic theory from the perspective of the advanced research being carried out by faculty members and, as well as cultivating the ability to apply this basic theory, it also teaches application theory that can be adapted to real technology.
The aim of this education is not only for students to acquire an advanced learning based on the international and original research activities of the course faculty members, but also to improve the "practical, theoretical and experimental abilities that will enable them to develop and verify theories in new areas," as required in the field of electrical engineering where the area of application is wide and change is intense. Students formulate their own objectives and plans, execute their research accordingly, and compile the results into a master's thesis. In this way, the program fosters engineers and researchers with the ability to conduct exploratory research or practically-applicable research that can contribute to society.
Specific Objectives for Development of Talented Individuals
The master's program aims to develop engineers and researchers with the following abilities who are able to pursue careers at the forefront of the real world:
- A thorough understanding of electromagnetics, electrical circuitry, and other fundamental disciplines in electrical engineering, and the ability to apply these basic theories in new technological development and problem solving.
- Practical, theoretical, and experimental abilities that enable them to link and develop/verify basic theory and application theory.
- The ability to discover problems in existing technology, as well as ability in applied technology in order to solve these problems with constraints.
- The ability to immediately cope with work as a member of a project team involved in research and development, etc.
- The ability to make proposals and carry out planning of new technological development projects, as well as the ability to lead a project team and the necessary communication skills to move plans forward.
- The ability to carry out original research.
