Overview
The Master of Science in Air Traffic Management at FH Joanneum University of Applied Sciences offers employees in the aviation industry the option of a higher academic qualification. It is designed to prepare participants for senior positions in aviation management, aeronautical engineering companies or engineering offices. The programme also fosters the concept of entrepreneurship and setting up of new businesses.
Key facts:
The course modules cover every relevant area of aviation, including aviation law, airports, airline and maintenance operations, and air traffic control. These subject areas are complemented by modules on business management, science and technology. Safety and environmental aspects are also thoroughly covered.
The course is organised on a part-time basis and includes modular phases in which attendance is compulsory. Following an introductory week held at the Institute of Aviation, FH JOANNEUM in Graz at the start of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd semesters, the course content is taught over 12 weekends per semester.

General requirements
A completed Bachelor’s degree (at least 180 ECTS) and several years of relevant professional experience in the field of aviation
or
- A general university entrance qualification and completion of one of the following aviation training programmes:
Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL)
Air Traffic Controller (ATCO licence)
- Licence according to EASA Part 66 (aircraft maintenance)
- Flight dispatcher with licence
- as well as several years of relevant professional experience
or
- Graduation from an HTL for aeronautical engineering and several years of professional experience in the aeronautical field
or
- Completion of an HTL for electrical engineering (communications engineering) and several years of professional experience in the field of air traffic control
or
- General university entrance qualification or completed vocational training with a qualifying degree. In addition, several years of relevant professional experience must be demonstrated.
