The Literatures in English program offered by The University of the West Indies focuses on the criticism of literature per se, our programme boasts of strengths in several related areas such as the creative writing, drama and theatre arts, film studies, cultural studies, and critical theory.

Graduates with M.Phil. in Literatures in English from The University of the West Indies will:

be equipped with a sound grasp of the historical development and cultural diversity of the field

possess the requisite interpretive tools for rigorous analysis and research.

be grounded as well in the tradition in reaction to which the 'new literatures in English' have emerged.
