These new skills will allow students to consolidate the exercise of the Sociologist profession, ensuring an enabling specialization on research skills and the development of relevant qualifications to act in real contexts.

The syllabus focuses on the acquisition of relational, practical and theoretical skills, as a way to provide an understanding of the Sociology’s role in the context of changes that is taking place in contemporary societies, as well as in the field of methodologies, technical research and sociological intervention.

The Sociology course at University of Minho focuses on flexibility, on the scientific transversality and on the empowerment of the sociologist’ skills as an adequate response to the challenges and contemporary problems, especially those that arise from the economic and social changes of globalization.
