History is the study of the past as it is described in written documents.Events occurring before written record are considered prehistory. It is an umbrella term that relates to past events as well as the memory, discovery, collection, organization, presentation, and interpretation of information about these events. Scholars who write about history are called historians.

About

The students who finish the first year of the course having a positive evaluation in all the curricular units, shall be awarded, if required, a "Certificate of Advanced Studies in History". The second year offers the possibility of elaborating either a dissertation, a project or an internship report, conferring a masters degre, to which a special mention can be added, according to the following possibilities: Middle Ages, Early Modern Period, Modern Period History of Discoveries and Portugueses Expansion, Art History, Historical Demography and Theory and Methods.
