Crime, Difference and Inequality

Overview

It offers an advanced training that enables the pursuit of knowledge and skills aimed at understanding and intervening in society in areas such as crime, the unequal access to resources, the structuring processes of social exclusion and cultural diversity at the social, economic, political, and educational levels.

Key Features 

This Crime, Difference and Inequality master course at University of Minho sets up two key objectives that articulate in its implementation several areas of knowledge such as Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, and Law, in order to meet the demands of training and skills that: 

• Take into account the growing scientific and academic importance, both at the national and international level, of the approach of the phenomena of crime, social inequality and cultural difference, thus aiming to provide professionals with advanced training in scientific and academic research;

• Consider the importance of the social phenomenon of crime and social inequality in societies increasingly vulnerable to insecurity and potential or actual social exclusion, as well as issues of cultural difference related with such phenomena, aiming to provide researchers and professionals with knowledge, methodologies and tools adapted to the intervention and social change in contemporary world.
