The Earth Sciences programme at the University of Basel investigates atmospheric chemical and physical processes as well as their effects on air quality and climate. In the field of climatology, the meteorological and climatological foundations for understanding the interactions between the earth's surface and the atmosphere are investigated. It deals with natural processes as well as man-made anthropogenic influences. In geology and mineralogy, the dimensions of consideration range from the atomic scale (crystallography) to the global scale (plate tectonics).
The study of geosciences opens up a broad spectrum of career opportunities in environmental, natural, water, soil and climate protection as well as in planning or materials research.
