The main focus areas of the Power Electronic Engineering Master's program:

More power. Power converter.

By efficiently converting the voltage, current, and frequency of electrical signals, power converters are crucial for the efficient transmission and use of energy. You will learn how to optimally design and control power converters, build prototypes, and bring them to series production.

Adrenaline. E-mobility.

E-mobility is fundamentally changing the technologies required. You will learn to combine efficient electric motors, high-performance batteries, and effective inverters with modern control algorithms for next-generation drive systems, and you can immediately apply your knowledge on the racetrack in our successful FH JOANNEUM Racing Team.

Renewable energy.

Renewable and regenerative energies are key concepts in modern energy production, as they rely on sustainable sources such as solar, wind, water, and biomass. You will learn how to optimally utilize renewable energies from generation and distribution to storage.

Practical. Prototype production.

Prototype manufacturing is crucial in power electronics for testing the functionality and performance of power electronics components and identifying potential design improvements. In our laboratories, you will build experimental models, gaining a realistic insight into the operation of power electronics solutions.

Applied research.

National and international collaborations with universities and companies enable you to directly participate in innovative technology projects. Furthermore, you will deepen your knowledge in the field of your master's thesis.

Organization

FH Joanneum University of Applied Sciences' study program is characterized by a highly practical approach. Students work in small groups in excellently equipped laboratories to ensure individual support and extensive hands-on experience. Furthermore, we consolidate study and attendance times from Wednesday to Friday. This allows you to gain additional practical experience through part-time employment in a relevant company.

Bachelor graduates of a technical bachelor's degree program with a scope of 180 ECTS credits , provided that at least 30 ECTS credits can be demonstrated through successfully completed courses in electronics and computer engineering at a recognized university.
