Overview
The Mechatronics Masters course at the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, combines the in-depth technical knowledge required to work in this fast changing discipline with broader aspects of engineering e.g industrial research and project management. The course features the use of state-of-the-art facilities and is strongly influenced by industrial perspectives. These facilities include Robotics, Manufacturing, Machine Vision and Embedded Systems Labs. This ensures that our graduates are well equipped to take advantage available job opportunities in the industry.
Research and Learning
The course modules of the Mechatronics Engineering program of the National University of Sciences and Technology are taught through lectures, laboratory work and/or projects which are continuously assessed. The percentages of marks allotted to assignments, exams, and projects vary between courses. Students of the Masters in Mechatronics Engineering Program are encouraged to carry out quality research. In this regard, most course work is focused on exploring current industrial advancements and latest academic research. Presently the students in the department are undergoing research in collaboration with the military and other Governmental organizations.
Why Join this Programme
Mechatronic systems engineers use concepts rooted in mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering, as well as math and computer science, to design the enhanced products, systems, and manufacturing processes demanded by today's marketplace. Using advanced scientific and engineering knowledge, mechatronics systems engineers combine mechanical, electric, and electronic subsystems to create a single controllable system.
Associated Careers
Many existing jobs categories currently or will soon require Mechatronics skills and problem solving abilities. For example the automobile today contains over 100 computers - and is just one of the many modern machines, from clothes dryers and dishwashers to auto-focus cameras and ATMs, that rely on mechatronics systems. Mechatronic engineers play an indispensable role in industrial robotics and the development of autonomous (unmanned) vehicles, which can function as everything from space probes to mobile military reconnaissance units.
