Overview
The Master of Pathology (Haematology) programme offered by University of Malaya covers comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge to equip graduates with the necessary proficiency to become clinicians who are involved in diagnostic laboratory work and for the field of Forensic Pathology, the involvement with investigations into causes of death and medico legal work.

Graduates are trained and can serve as:
- Diagnostic laboratory clinicians (haematology, chemical pathology, anatomical pathology, medical microbiology).
- Forensic Pathologists (forensic pathology).
- Academic pathologists.
- Research pathologists.
Programme Structure
The programme of study comprises two stages as follows:
Stage I encompassing:
- clinical training in the first year of study by rotational posting in each of the following four disciplines of Pathology:(A) Anatomical Pathology including Autopsy
- Haematology including Transfusion Medicine;
- Chemical Pathology including Immunology; and
- Medical Microbiology (Bacteriology, Mycology, Immunology, Virology) with Parasitology. and
- tasks as stipulated in the log book including posting reports.
- advanced training in one of the following disciplines of Pathology:(A) Anatomical Pathology,
- Haematology;
- Chemical Pathology,
- Medical Microbiology;
- Forensic Pathology; and
- a research project

Other requirements
General requirements
- The degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery of the University or an equivalent medical qualification approved by the Senate; and
- At least one year of post-full registration clinical experience approved by the Senate.
- Other requirements
- Qualifies for registration as a medical practitioner under the Medical Act 1971 (Act 50) of Malaysia; and
- Satisfies the Department responsible for the candidate’s programme of study in an Entrance Evaluation recognised by the Faculty.
