Overview
The International Development and Agricultural Economics (IDAE) at Czech University of Life Sciences Prague consists of three major components. First, core courses that address institutional and behavioural theories, principles of cooperatives, farming systems economics, tropical agriculture, marketing of tropical products and agrarian policies mechanisms.
Second, students select various courses to study that fit their main motivations or are well suited to the Master's thesis topic. Third, a compilation of masters thesis on programme-relevant topics and thesis-related courses.
Master's thesis plays a crucial role in the programme.
Therefore, students attend four scientific seminars, which provide students with the main principles of research in agricultural economics, and present their own research and improve communication skills in front of their classmates, academic staff, and invited experts. Students choose a topic during the first semester and become a part of a supervisors research team established at the faculty. Working in these teams gives the students hands-on experience and practical skills by participating in various research and innovation projects managed by their supervisor. Students also undergo an internship at a partner institution.
