  • 24 months
    Duration

Overview

Post-graduates will be able to work either as a lexicographer at a publishing company or as an academic lexicographer in all fields of lexicography, from the conception of printed and electronic dictionaries to specific lexicographical tasks and further to the technical realization of lexicographical products. Besides, they will be trained profoundly in the analytic-theoretical field of modern lexicography in order to find a field of activity in scientific research or as advising-conceptional lexicographer in the field of publishing and further education.

The four-semester programme can be started each winter term; the second semester is done abroad. The European Master in Lexicography (EMLex) programme at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg corresponds to the regulations of the Bologna process: The overall number of ECTS points granted is 120 (the modules have 5 or 10 ECTS points). The total number of students, who are registered for EMLex at the participating universities, is limited to 30 per year because of the particular design of the block seminars during the summer term. These seminars are the core piece of the international aspect.
