Key Features
The Earth Sciences department at Brock University was founded at Brock University in 1968, three years after the University was formed. The department now has 10 faculty members with a wide variety of research and teaching interests.
Graduate students in Earth Sciences join a research-intensive environment and work with internationally recognized faculty who contribute to a wide variety of geoscientific fields. Research areas include glacial geology and geomorphology, watershed geochemistry, lichen biomonitoring, marine and terrestrial palynology, stream flow dynamics, isotope carbonate geochemistry, the structural geology of Earth and Mars, climate change and quaternary geology. Earth sciences graduate students respond to the needs of world governments, industries and social structures facing global change.

General requirements
- To be considered for admission to a Master’s program, a student will normally hold a four-year degree, or its equivalent, from an accredited university with a minimum 75% (mid-B) average over the last two years of full-time undergraduate study.
- You will need to submit your transcripts as well as the following program specific materials:
- Three references are required.
- Interested full time graduate students are encouraged to contact graduate supervisors prior to making formal application to discuss potential research projects. See the department website for information regarding faculty members
- A Statement of Research Interest — no more than two pages in length, in which applicants indicate their career aspirations/plans, specific research interests, and experience relevant to their interests. Also, a potential supervisor should be identified in the statement of interest.
