We offer a master degree in German Language and Literature at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. Learning another language fulfills the primary purpose of a university education: to prepare citizens to reason, analyse, problem-solve and communicate in a world of cultural differences.

Overview

Memorial’s Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures recognizes that interest in pursuing advanced studies in German may be stimulated by a wide variety of personal and professional experiences. It welcomes, therefore, students with diverse backgrounds and a wide range of goals.

At the Memorial University of Newfoundland, the cultural and linguistic knowledge acquired in German Language and Literature at the graduate level prepares students for employment, further study, or both. Those students interested in careers in teaching are encouraged to participate in Memorial's Teaching Skills Enhancement Program.
