Overview
The vibrant approach to education in Dalhousie University 's Master of Planning programme involves experiential learning with projects completed in cooperation with community groups, nonprofit organizations, and industry leaders. As a student in Dalhousie University's Master of Planning programme, you can expand your knowledge through collaborative classroom work and real-world situations.
On completion of the MPlan degree and obtaining employment in planning, you are eligible to apply for Candidate membership in one of the Provincial or Territorial Institutes or Associations of professional planners as the first step to becoming a registered or licensed professional planner.
The certification process that follows is administered on behalf of the institutes or the associations by the Professional Standards Board for the Planning Profession in Canada using national standards for certification. Foreign applicants are recommended to contact the Professional Standards Board about requirements for professional registration.

- Project: In the second year of the MPlan programme, all students take on two major research-based projects: one individual and one team project.
- Co-op: A work term in your third semester gives you the opportunity to combine theory with practice, and gain professional experience.
