Overview
The Research Training Program programme from Humboldt University Berlin is taught at the Institute of Social Sciences at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
Quick facts:
- During the two semesters, the MA RTP offers a deeper understanding of theory, contemporary research methods and debates within the social and political sciences. Students have the possibility to select courses most suitable to their own academic needs and objectives and will receive intensive supervision and counselling during the process of developing their individual profile.
- In addition, the program aims to help students to adjust easily to academic life in Germany, and provides help in getting access to language classes.
- The individual curriculum that every student chooses, allows the freedom to work on his or her research interests, focusing on courses related to methodical, theoretical, topic-specific, language-related topics and to get used to the German academic system.
- The individual curriculum of each student is agreed upon in an in-depth counselling meeting with the program’s director of studies at the beginning of the fall term. The outcome will be fixed in a binding learning agreement. Students are expected to prepare for this meeting by checking the institute’s course offer and by critically reflecting on their knowledge of methods and other qualifications needed in order to work on their topic.
- Compulsory courses will be taught in English, for the elective courses there is a large variety of courses offered in both, English and German.
