The Performance concentration at the University of Alberta includes studies in piano, voice, strings and selected other instruments, as well as routes in piano pedagogy and wind band conducting.

Overview

Focusing on the practical study of the Performance concentration at the University of Alberta, conducting or composition, our three M.Mus. programs allow students to delve into the concentration of their choice. 

Interested applicants will be highly qualified performers and/or composers who have demonstrated a high level of achievement in their fields.

Other requirements

General requirements

  • A BMus degree with an average of 3.0 in the last two years of undergraduate, or graduate work at the University of Alberta, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. In the case of the MA, an Honors BA or equivalent is acceptable in place of the BMus
  • A Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The GPA calculation will be determined from the most recent 2 years (or 60 credits) of course work
  • Please ensure you meet the minimum requirements from other countries as set by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR) before applying
