Description

The Baird Educational Trust is a Charitable Trust set up by James (Jim) W Baird in 2002. Jim was originally from Glasgow where, as a boy, he attended piano lessons at the junior school of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama (now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland).

After leaving school, he studied law at Glasgow University and went on to qualify as a solicitor, latterly working in Hong Kong. Sadly, Jim died in 2020 but the work of the Trust continues under the stewardship of the current Trustees.

The purpose of The Baird Educational Trust is to provide financial assistance and support to any person undertaking a course of tuition, education or training in any branch of the performing, visual or literary art.

Benefits

The scholarship is worth £2,000 per year.

Not specified

If you are eligible, you can apply for a maximum of two scholarships, and only one application form is required to apply for both scholarships. Scholarships are not awarded on a first come first served basis, but as there is a high demand, we cannot accept late applications. As the scholarship committees will be looking at a high number of applications, you should clearly explain why you need the funding and how it will support you to succeed with your studies at the GSA.
